Just asking.......
Just asking.......
Ask your obama and his dems...they have been running the show up until January of this year!!! Course it does not help that odumba and pelose ran the national debt up by $6 trillion bucks

The were promised by the new GOP majority House, and they have done nothing on the JOBS, JOBS, JOBS issue.
Hi Bumpy,
Love the pic......it certainly tells it all!
So what would you liberal/fascists suggest we do? I suggest we repeal odumba care for starts, then reduce to 10% all corporate taxes...and access a 50% tax on all assests of those registered as democrats.
hey reesie !!! how you?
i haven't been here in a couple of days. yeah.....the repubs had ALL the answers during the campaign. remember their "jobs jobs jobs" talking point?? once in office they haven't don't jack CHIT except "cut cut cut" and throw teachers under the bus.
Bumpy,
Yes, I noticed you have been MIA. I'm doing good and you?
Bumpy -- I like the cartoon, but I have to say that the middle guy has been US energy policy through Dem and GOP administrations at least since WW II.
Sometimes I hope Obama can do something about that.
i hope so too, obot.
but the President has too many right wingnuts to contend with, and yellow belly democrats that back down as soon as the pressure is on.
i'm cool reesie.
...just crazy busy.........thank God......lol.
i'll be back more during the weekend.
Hi, Bumps, hope you've recovered from our last meeting - Just a brief rundown again, it all started over one photo - not realizing that the guy walking across the field on Wild Thing was Charlie Sheen, as I later explained - and of course it went really wild from there - but I enjoyed it -
Moving right along - I have to say that this jobs subject is far too complicated and too iinvolved to blame either party - Let's face it - The GOP has been back for only a short time so let's be serious. This whole thing started IMO from givng breaks in homes to people that didn't have a pot to p*** in which is almost always the reason things go down the tube -
Again, ain't gonna happen overnite -
There are three things contributing to the anemic jobs roster IMO
1. We compete with countries that do not pay their workers a living wage. We need to either institute strong tariffs, or Americans need to stay out of WalMart and keep their money from helping build the Chinese economy. They will catch us soon enough.
2. Other countries are getting much better at competing with the US capitalist model, while we are falling behind at our own game.
3. Machines are replacing human labor at an exponentially increasing rate.
Actually the stock market went up quite a bit today based on the jobs report that jobless claims were at their lowest point since April 2008. Also the retail numbers were great as well.
BB, jobless claims being at the their lowest, can't help wondering if it's because there aren't that many jobs apparently left from which to get layed off - just sayin - couldn't help having that come to mind -

Sure you could - but the report also showed the highest growth in hiring for certain industries in retail, shipping, administration, medical, in years. So, it may now work out what you were thinking - but hey you are free to think it.
Yeah, the news was good today, and the stock market has climbed steadily since shortly after Obama took office, adding around 4 trillion to stock portfolios. The long-term outlook is not nearly as rosy. There is a really good article in Time.

BTW, I have really been impressed by Time lately.
This article is related, and also well-written.

I stopped in at the local liquor store last week and was BSing with the owner. He was complaining about all the taxes and regulations and said he may pack it in.
I said Jack, if all else fails, we can open up an after hours joint together with bootleg cigarettes, alcohol and gambling. I'll handle the entertainment. He said "don't laugh, it may come to that."
He hires three people to work in his store. Those jobs will be lost. Why? Because of big brother. What's wrong with this picture.
The Teapublicans entire campaign was based on Obama's inability to create more jobs and their plan to fix it. Since day one, and up until today, they have neither discussed or said anything about what their plans are. They have been way too busy trying to do everything else but, and are even setting things up to cutting even more jobs.
I think about what is going on in Wisconsin and Republican are not thinking at all about creating jobs, they are doing everything in their power to destroy them.
The best way to create jobs is to get the government out of the way and let people like Jack run their business. Republicans have to establish the path of getting out of the way.
NIck, The two biggest corporations in the United States, Exxon and General Electric, paid ZERO taxes last year. Just how far out of the way do you think government has to get? [grin]
Hoodie, unless these large companies are genuinely investing in the future of america, I agree that they must contribute more.
I know what I see in my neighborhood. I see how silly regulations and unfair taxes are destroying small business which is the heart of a community. This has to change.
Good info Hoodie because I didn't know that? Can't wait to hear what Nick has to say about it.
Hoodie, I just finished reading both links you provided above and read them thorouhly. Very interesting and I agree, very well written. One thing that got my attention was in the first article and I quote it. "Democrats, for their part, became apoplectic about a proposal to raise the retirement age for Social Security by one year - in 2055.
Unbelievable.
It's this kind of insanity IMO which causes jobs to get shipped overseas - this kind of unreasonable attitude -
Thanks for reading them! They make some very sound points, IMO.
Nick -- it would be interesting to ask these businessmen you know exactly what regulations are doing them in.
I would expect that most if not all of the regulations they deal with come from the state, county, and city, and not from the Federal government.
Hoodie, I am a great believer in small govt. and small buisness. when either gets too large it leads to trouble. I believe in healthy communities that comprise a healthy state.
People in their own comminiuties know what is necessary to keep it healthy. People can come and go and information is such in these times that rigidy will only remain in rare communities
I remember years back going to a club in Harlem with a super black organist I worked I had worked with. I was the only white guy in the club. They knew who I was with so knew I must love blues. I was accepted right away. I was accepted into a community because I respected the community. One rarely hears this quality of blues and jazz in white clubs. I'm clapping not to be politically correct but because it was worth clapping for.
I respect communities and know how small buisness further communities. If others felt the same, we would not have the trouble we do.
Nick, I hear ya loud and clear. The little town I live in is really fierce about local sourcing, and the city charges me a whopping $100 a year to do business here. And yeah, if we all realized that every single time we spend money we are voting, we might be more careful about our votes.
They do carry it too far sometimes though. Standing Stone Brewing Company here has great food, locally sourced. You can actually see the cows their beef comes from across the valley - while they are cooking your burger. :-)
My TV is usually on Fox Business so I hear of a lot government reports.
The stock market has been doing well NOT because the U.S.A is doing well but because companies are selling to the fast growing India and China economies. BUT, many of these same companies get AMERICAN TAXPAYER bail outs.
If our government (BOTH dems and reps) would GET OFF THEIR BEHINDS and FIX OUR TRADE IMBALANCE, so manufacturing will come back - those companies would pay taxes to help pay for our government. BUT, our government has to be CUT also as will company taxes.
W
What do you all think of this suggestion?
1. The U.S.A has the HIGHEST corporate tax rate in the world and that drives companies overseas.
2. The U.S.A. has HUGE salary differences between the CEO and the worker bees now
QUESTION: Congress/President offer - WE WILL LOWER YOUR CORPORATE TAX RATES BY 50%, IF you keep the salary of the TOP CEO (not including stock in THEIR COMPANY) and worker bees at the percentage difference level it was in the 1960's or 1970's? And all company executives WILL have the SAME rules/restrictions on selling company stock as the worker bees so another Enron exec sell off cannot happen while Enron worker bees could not sell "for a few days" at which time their stock was worthless.
I know libertarians will throw a fit BUT we are NOT in a FREE CAPITALIST MARKET either in the world or in the U.S.A. right now so we have to manipulate the income tax system to get JOBS back.
The BEST course of action would be to have a NATIONAL SALES TAX with NO exceptions or reductions and eliminating the income and corporate tax but until then would the above suggestion work.
Roxie, you're on the wrong thread. :-)
What do you all think of this suggestion?

**********************************
LANR, I suggest we stop using Communist terms like "workers" for starters.
Of course we have to lower corporate tax rates in this "global" world we live in today or else the USA is screwed as companies will go elsewhere on the globe to do business.
They are doing it all the time as "we speak" right here on this forum. Most of Gulf oil rigs & operations that Obama shut down have already moved to operate in other countries with many Americans taking jobs in those countries where their taxes will be paid to those other countries and not the USA.
And I suggest we "get over" CEO's pay and attempt to "get" some freaking jobs back into the country.
Obama is like a GIANT wrecking ball to our economy.
the only "jobs" the gop has helped with is jobs at the unemployment commision and #lowjobs.
House leaders formally proposed spending $10 billion to help recession-bruised, fiscally distressed states prevent layoffs of hundreds of thousands of teachers.
The proposal saves teaching jobs without increasing the budget deficit by cutting other stimulus spending.
This is not good enough for conservative deficit hysterics.
The conservative Republican response appears to be: just lie and say helping teachers will increase the deficit anyway. CQ reports:
Typical of the left to be outraged that the GOP has not produced jobs in the 2 months that they have been the majority in the House. Where was the outrage the previous 2 years and the 2 years before that when Pelosi was driving off the cliff? The hipocracy is phenomenal!
the entire country is seeing nothing but chaos in the states with these republicans that won in november.
teachers, cops, and firefighters being thrown under the bus. rallies, protest and marches AGAINST these kooky republican policies....
THE GOP IS TOAST !!!!
Bumps, not so fast - Again, it's been only a little over three months since the 2010 election - Let's not be so quick to always blame the GOP -
A brief segue into a more realistic topic - I can't say that I thought the Pete Sampras/Andre Agassi was that thrilling - It wasn't exactly like watching the US Open. The best I can say for it was that it was a good encentive for the 40-plus guys to go out to the tennis courts - That's about it for me - Time marches on, Bumps, and some of the glamour goes - Numbers do matter unfortunately -
Again, give the GOP some break - please - pretty please - wait until 2012 -
HEY EV !!!!
....you going to drive me crazy this morning??
lol
No, Bumps, I'm not out to drive you crazy again - Once is enough - LOL -
But I will say again, quit jumping on the GOP every chance you guys get - Again, it's been only a few months since the 2012 election - I'll say it again - This jobs thing took months. years to to get to where it got and it's going to take more than a few months or more to make some headway -
Let's talk about tennis instead - much more interesting - unless you're the guy or gal looking for a job and I feel your pain - been there done that -
Hang in there all -
where was all this "jobs thing took months. years to to get to where it got and it's going to take more than a few months or more to make some headway" stuff from the repubs and baggers when the President took office? those clowns were AGAINST everything the President did since day one, and gave him NO time.
the gop is not going to get it both ways.
"quit jumping on the gop every chance you get"...................LOL.
you gotta be kidding. after the lies and garbage they've been spreading NON STOP for the past two and a half years.
BWHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Bumps, one more thing while we're on ths subject of GOP vs Dems -
Here is a perfect example of where the Dems are Soooo wrong - insane would be a better adjective -Up above on this same page I quote -
"
"Democrats, for their part, became apoplectic about a proposal to raise the retirement age for Social Security by one year - in 2055.
Unbelievable.
It's this kind of insanity IMO which causes jobs to get shipped overseas - this kind of unreasonable attitude -
Nuts! Get real, Dems -
....and whats 'real' about the gop?
give me ONE THING that's "real" about repubs!!!!!!
Well, for one thing, Bumps, they would not scream Uncle for raising the retirement age for SS by one year! I believe they would probably go for five years - 70 is not exactly ancient and a lot of people work beyond that - This what the GOP is all about - I say IT'S ABOUT TIME for 70! Long overdue - so sue me!
And something else, Bumps, I think you're a pretty savvy guy and I think you agree with a lot of what I say - You've got to register with the Repubs!
Look out for the lightening!
did i miss something??
WHAT is the "gop all about"??
they're anti teachers, anti mexican, anti muslim, anti poor people, anti choice for women..........and they CLAIM to be "anti government" at the same time on the way to the doctor while on medicare.
Sounds a bit hypocritical, right? That's human nature, Bumps. Nothing is 100% - I could give you a Dems hypocracy as soon as I check my list -
Here's one - Definition of a Republican -
One who's just been mugged -
