President Obama scolds Dallas reporter: 'Let me finish my answers' Video
Yesterday's pointed questions from Dallas' own Brad Watson, senior reporter at WFAA-TV of Dallas, appeared to throw President Obama off his usual smiling style and relaxed answers, actually provoking a scold from the President.
The president appeared discomfited when Watson looked him straight in the eye and shot from the hip, "Why do you think you're so unpopular in Texas?"
“Texas has always been a pretty Republican state, for you know, historic reasons,” responded Obama, then tried to make a case that since his election the balance seemed to be shifting and friendlier to liberals, even noting that he had only lost Texas by a few percentage points.
Lest Obama might get away with leaving a tall tale of a "few" being three or less, Watson reminded him that the "few" percentages points was actually a larger marjority - 10%. Obviously the correction didn't set well with Obama, and after the interview, but still on tape, President Obama made a correction of his own, chiding Watson, "Let me finish my answers the next time we do an interview, all right?”
Regardless, Obama claims he is not ready to write Texas off yet, though harsh words about Obama policies from its Lone Star governor, easily reelected Rick Perry must chaff, Obama declared, "I love Texas."
Texans are used to tall tales and may get a laugh out of that thinking Obama is merely following Texas tradition: If the first tall tale doesn't succeed, try, try again.
