To my conservative buddies, why am I forced to pay for those who don't have insurance. I pay via higher premiums and more expensive coverage. Is there any of you out there who can help me? Is there anything in the Constitution that protects the insured from having to pay much more simply because a healthy uninsured person was injured in a car accident or found out they were ill but didn't have health insurance?
Those of you complaining are more than likely on a govt health insurance plan or looking forward to it in a few years. We don't think outside of ourselves. It has to be all about us and whatever the insurance lobbyist tell the GOP to push on you all even if it doesn't make sense or if it is against you own interest.
Don't you think there is a reason we would need everyone engaged in this? We should want every American insured whether they want to be or not because when they are not insured and get sick, we no longer have the right to say, "Oh I am not paying for that?"

I'll help you out, although I'm not sure it will do any good.
HC Insurance companies are already HEAVILY regulated by the Government and mandated (forced) to cover everything from abortions to sex change operations, you are talking "everything" from soup to freaking nuts!! Not only checkups, but drug rehap, lipo suction, gastro surgeries for weight loss, mental health etc. etc............... the whole danged nine yards the list just goes on and on!!
Insurance companies are unable to offer catastropic only or customized policies to meet specfic needs such as a healthy young adults who might want only accident or catastropic illness policy, or a young married couple who might want to enhance their coverage to cover pre-natal, birth costs, childrens shots/checkups etc.
Thats "WHY" your danged insurance is so EXPENSIVE!!! Too much Government regulation as it is, and the hedious Obamacare just adds MORE Government regulation and its NOT reform at all, its more like "DEFORM"!
Its the reason Insurance companies are INCREASING their premium rates in order to be able to "absorb" more regulations and are even dropping people OFF their rolls, starting with children btw and I'm sure seniors are not far behind.
Obamacare will literally drive HC Insurance companies out of business and some will just "morph" into some type of Governement exchange to handle "paperwork" etc. So that policy your paying so much for right now will be worth ZIP in the Obamacare future since you'll be "thown in" to the National "pot" with the rest of us, unless of course you can get a "waiver" as hundreds of campanies and the federal/state goverment workers have gotten. Otherwise you're screwed.
So Roxie, it is regulations that causes Insurance companies to charge us so much. Now is it something new with what has been coined Obamacare or was this the case years ago as well? Because if truth be told, the insurance companies are just as much about scamming folks as folks are about scamming them. They would prefer to have policies and no one ever get sick. This is why they invest in denying pre-existing conditions and THEY have all of these rules and regulations as to what is covered and what is not. Remember it was the govt who had to step in to say, "hey, don't kick folks off when they need you especially if they have been paying into their policies for years?
Insurance companies are even too lazy to battle their own fraud these days. It is so much easier for them to payout and just bake it into our premiums. They would even admit that to you. Now is regulations encouraging them to do that?
You are totally trying to lay blame on the govt for what the insurance companies do but trust me, any chance they can figure out a loop hole to not pay a legitimate claim, they will do that and the govt has in the past just turned the blind eye.
The way these companies are structured anyway is just a scam in general.

To my liberal buddies. I don't want YOU or ME to pay for someone else's uninsured health insurance bills. So rather than hiring THOUSANDS of unionized government employees to oversee yet another bureaucracy let’s SOLVE this problem.
1. Get the illegals OUT of our hospital/ERs.
.....a. Secure our Border.
.... b. Ensure ALL state/federal/Private companies use E-Verify BEFORE hiring to ensure only Americans are hired.
.....c. Start FINING businesses who hire illegals $5000 an illegal and using that fine money EXCLUSIVELY to for transporting the illegal BACK to wherever they came from. 3rd offense, business license suspended for 3 months and on 4th offence a year and then permanently suspended.
.....d. Start jailing employers who hire illegals.
2. Let PEOPLE own their OWN health insurance policies like they own their own auto and home insurance polices - NO MORE EMPLOYER HEALTH INSURANCE). People shouldn't be afraid to leave a job because of losing their insurance.
3. Let The PEOPLE buy their privately owned health insurance ACROSS STATE LINES just like they do auto and home insurance. If an insurance company wants to allow sex change operations in their policy and charge all their members more money for it - let THAT insurance company compete with EVERY insurance company in the country who doesn't offer that option to people who don't WANT to PAY for sex change operations (Or pre-natal care or maternity care or whatever).
4. LET PEOPLE have their OWN HEALTH CARE SAVINGS PLAN TAX FREE UP TO $7,000 a year - ROLLOVERABLE and that can be used for ANY HEALTH CARE item they want from Band-Aids to prescription drugs to breast exams. Laser eye surgery - go for it. Lipo - go for it. Plastic surgery - Go for it. Gym membership - GO FOR IT. Whatever floats your boat in terms of mental/physical health. .
.....4A) In CONJUCTION with the above HEALTH CARE SAVINGS PLAN (in order to have one) YOU must either have health insurance (regular type) OR JUST CATASTROPHIC HEALTH INSURANCE. The Catastrophic Health Insurance plan is for cancers, heart attacks, car accident injuries - those UN-expected emergencies - not routine care that PEOPLE use their Health Care Savings Plan for.
PEOPLE who PAY for their OWN health insurance and surgeries SHOP AROUND and get the best bang for the buck. Just see how fast LIPO surgery and Laser Eye Surgery costs went down in price. Also, to SAVE money on their monthly premiums, people will be MOTIVATED to lose weight, stop smoking, whatever.
5. For TRULY POOR AMERICANS or truly fat or don't give a damn about their health AMERICANS who won't lose weight despite diabetes, etc. the government will give them a MEANS TESTED voucher to buy their own health care insurance or catastrophic insurance.
How about the Federal government requiring everyone to buy a clue?
# 5 also keeps the problem alive and well. That is where the bulk of the monies are spend already on the unhealthy and the elderly.
And Samual, keep it real. If someone needs emergency medical assistance you really expect a health care provider to deny service and sit there and watch them die? What type of folks you think we Americans are? No American that I know would ever do that!

1) Medicare would be gone. THAT WOULD SAVE BILLIONS!!! A MEANS tested voucher would be given to POOR elderly or the don'/can't t take care of themeselves elderly to buy their own health insurance. Obviously if they are truly indigent, the government would pick up the tab for a old person with ZERO SAVINGS/NO HOME or anything else. BUT that person would still get a VOUCHER to BUY their own insurance.
2. As for emergency care - YES. The Supreme Court said ERs HAD to see people without insurance which is WHY the ER's along the border are BANKRUPT.
......2a: ANSWER: COME ON DOWN AND GET GET SEEN. And also every person seen in the ER would be screened though E-verify...... Illegal aliens are TREATED and ICE deports them. Warrant out for your arrest....Treated...and police called to haul your ass away. With ALL EMPLOYERS using E-verify before employing ANYONE, the illegals would self deport since they couldn't get a job.

I hope you have not been suckered into thinking your premiums will take a downward departure with Obamacare because THAT will never happen. If anything, your premiums will increase because the more that have insurance, the higher the demand for doctor visits, hospital stays etc . . . Right now, those who are uninsured tend not to make doctor appts, eye appts & dental appts. That will all change and somebody will have to absorb the cost to hire on more medical professionals. Good Luck thinking Obamacare will benefit you because you already have insurance.

St. Paulie, my insurance premiums have been through the roof but for the first time in year, there was no increase and I think that is because I was already paying too much for the plan that I have.
Seems like folks want to all of a sudden blame higher premuims on HC reform when they were already unchecked and through the roof pre HC reform. And HC reform isn't so much all about me. It is about us as a country and ensuring that we can fix our broken system. Does Obamacare fix everything NO but what does the so called GOP plan does, Nada!
They were not even interested in fixing the system because they are use to sitting silent and watch the American people get screwed by corporations because that is who lined their pockets.

SheShe - That is right, we (the insured) pay and it will only get worse now . . . . those who don't have insurance do not go to the doctor everytime they cough or sneeze . . . . not now anyway, but wait until they are covered under Obamacare. And when you or I want to schedule an appointment . . . . we should expect long delays because the medical clinics will be packed once Obamacare kicks in. Everybody will suffer one way or another.
LANR -- ok, you want a serious answer, here's one.
Let's start by assuming that Coulter's proposed legislation would "make" people buy a gun in the same sense that HCR "makes" people buy health insurance: that failure to buy obliges them to pay a tax.
Suppose Congress decided to grant a tax credit for buying or owning a gun. I think everyone would agree that that would be no different from the bazillions of tax credits the government already grants for a diverse array of economic activities. So it seems extremely unlikely the Supreme Court would balk at that.
Now suppose Congress decided to tax people who did not own a gun. I fail to see any substantial legal distinction between a tax credit for doing something, and an additional tax for not doing it.
So it seems to me that, yes, it would pass Constitutional muster for Congress to "make" everyone buy a gun, in this sense of the word "make." Whether or not that would be a good policy is, of couse, a completely different matter.
